Health is important to everyone since without good health nobody can function normally. Diseases and ailments have increased over the years and so have viruses and infections. Just as these increase, we need to be more careful to take good care of our health.

    Health is important to everyone since without good health nobody can function normally. Diseases and ailments have increased over the years and so have viruses and infections. Just as these increase, we need to be more careful to take good care of our health. We must follow a healthy lifestyle and get a good night’s sleep to be healthy and normal.

    We must weigh the ideal weight or at least be in a normal weight range. Too fat or too thin is not good for the body. Both the conditions have solutions that can help increase or decrease weight accordingly. Overweight causes innumerable diseases such as diabetes and heart attacks. Cholesterol levels go up, blood pressure increases and so on when you are overweight. You find it difficult to breathe and cannot perform any task for more than a few minutes. Similarly people who are underweight get tired easily and are unable to think properly as they are suffering from malnutrition or have some other history. Other ailments such as infections can cause distress as well. a health check up ensures you are healthy and within the normal parameters.

    Health check-ups are done to check your level of blood count (CBC), fasting blood sugar, post prandial sugar, thyroid tests, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol levels, ESR, blood pressure, ECG, and so on. Advanced tests such as pap smear and mammogram help ensure your uterus and breasts are normal (in case of women) so that you are free from cancer. These check-ups must be done annually between the age of 25 – 60 and if you have a certain chronic ailment, then you may be required to conduct further tests and more frequently. Vision goes down as you grow older and this also requires to be frequently checked especially after the age of 40.

    Health checks are required for pregnant women as well to check if the foetus is doing well inside the body and all the required parameters are within the normal range. People with chronic ailments such as BP and diabetes, need to do regular check-ups to see if their medicines to need to be changed or if the levels have gone up or down. All this information can help act as a preventive measure to ensure that you are safe and healthy and do catch any further diseases or infections. Children up to a certain age need frequent check-ups to see if they are growing well within the normal range and also for regular vaccinations.
