For non-immigrant visa applicants, you can determine your visa type by reading the common non-immigrant visa rules. Each visa type explains the qualifications and application items. Choose the visa type that suits your profile. Then complete the Non-immigrant Visa Electronic Application form DS-160. Read the guidelines before applying for this form.     After you have determined your correct visa type and the form is complete, then you will be asked to pay the fees for the visa. The visa fee page lists the visa types and the corresponding fees for each. To pay the fees, you can read the Bank and payment options page. You will need to create a profile and keep a record of the receipt number to book the visa appointment. After this process is over, you can book your appointment by logging in. You will be asked to schedule two appointments, one for Visa Application Center (VAC) and one for the interview at the embassy or consulate. The 1st appointment must be with the VAC where your fingerprint and photo will be taken. You will need to carry a valid passport, your DS-160 confirmation page, the appointment confirmation page, and one photo as per US visa specifications.

    After this is over, you can do your interview for which you will need your passport number, visa application fee receipt number, and the 10 digit barcode number from your form DS-160. You will also need to carry a printed copy of your appointment confirmation letter, the DS-160 form confirmation page stamped at the VAC, your current and old passports and all supporting documents.
