Education is important for each and every individual. Education prepares you for life and the challenges ahead. A good education ensures you have a job always to fall back on and without education, you are at the mercy of others to take care of you. There are many education systems followed in India such as SSLC, HSC, CBSE, ICSE, IB and IGCSE. There is a constant battle of the boards and parents go crazy thinking which board to choose. Ideally in the early years it really does not matter. But still just to get a perspective, we have listed some differences here.
Comparison of CBSE and ICSE education systems –
CBSE – means Central Board of Secondary Education. This system is followed in many schools in India such DPS, NPS, etc. CBSE is as recognized as the ICSE board and both are good in their own way. CBSE has more focus on the National language Hindi and has lesser number of subjects than the ICSE Board. CBSE board follows the national curriculum. CBSE is recognized by the NCERT and operates through Kendriya Vidyalaya schools that are government oriented and transfers to different locations are accepted. Private schools have also started CBSE curriculum and this works in the best interest of employees whose jobs are transferable. All national entrance exams are conducted as per CBSE syllabus.
ISCE – means Indian Certificate of Secondary Education and is conducted by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE). It is considered the toughest board exam in India so far. Children who qualify from ICSE board are considered intelligent comparatively to others as the portions, number of subjects and projects given are really tough to get through. It is much more comprehensive than the CBSE board and the number of subjects are more too with a lot of emphasis on English language. By the time you get to higher grades, there are at least 12 subjects in ICSE as compared to 5 in CBSE.
